Kennedy New Media: Resident Evil 5 Review

Posted by Tim On May - 20 - 2009

Finally, the long-awaited, Resident Evil 5 Review! Please drop comments or email and let me know what you think!

So… I’m pretty much a big chicken when it comes to horror games, moves, etc. I struggled through Doom 3, and just about soiled myself when I encountered my first Big Daddy in Bioshock. So, hearing how good the Resident Evil games have been over the years in regards to scaring you, I stayed as far away as possible. Not because I was afraid of a good game, but because I was just afraid. I’m finding the fact that I’m writing about the newest installment of the RE series very odd as I know that I am not a horror fan in the purest sense of the word.

To give you some background on why I ever picked up the latest installment, I start with an anecdote. I met and spent the weekend with Ken Lally in March for All-Con. He is Wesker in RE5 in every aspect but the actual voice. Pretty amazing dude – super-passionate about his craft and glowing about the game. Then the fangirls started rolling in gushing about this game and I find myself thinking, “I’m going to pass up a game that this many people are crazy about because I’m chicken? No way!”

And that’s when I picked up RE5. There were some pretty intense parts, and some were even scary, but overall its gotten away from its intense horror roots, and for me, that’s a good thing. Read the rest of this entry »

KNM News – Week of 4/13/09

Posted by Tim On April - 12 - 2009

Hey everyone, just thought I’d drop a note to let you know what you can expect from KNM this week. I’ve got some cool stuff in store for you. I’m putting the finishing touches on my “Not Quite New” game of the month review – I played through Square-Enix’s Infinite Undiscovery and will have a full review up by Tuesday.

I’ve also just got in a review copy of Sacred II: Fallen Angel, which is getting a big face-lift thanks to NVIDIA’s (relatively) newly acquired PhysX technology. Its installed already and looks to be a good investment of time before I’ll be done. With any game that takes me more than a week or two to finish, I’ll try to publish updates each week to let you know what I’m playing and where I”m at.

Also, I’m finishing up Resident Evil 5, and will also have that review up this week, most likely by Friday. I have to give a shout-out to my man Ken Lally, who did a really badass job with Wesker. He may not be the voice in the final game, but ask him to give you a Wesker impression sometime and he’s more Wesker than Wesker. Also, get him to talk to you about the stance. Pure genious.

I’m also going to start putting up some iPhone game reviews – they’re some great game out on the iPhone and they need to get covered! There’s so much crap out there that the good stuff needs a little help rising to the top. If you have an iPhone game you’ve developed and would like me to check it out, please send me an email – tim@kennedynewmedia.com and I’ll give it a look.

That’s all for now – thanks everyone for your support and keep on gaming!

All-Con Begins Tomorrow!! (3/13/09)

Posted by Tim On March - 12 - 2009

Packing my bags and cameras for All-Con. I’ll be volunteering most of the weekend, working the Celeb table. I’ll be with Ken Lally (Resident Evil, Heroes) and my beautiful wife will be with (the also beautiful) Candace Kita (Two and a Half Men, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry). Hottie table indeed, lol.

Saturday we’ll be doing lunch around 11:30am-1pm at Spring Creek barbeque. Any and all are welcome to join us. We go dutch, so bring money for your own food but we’ll provide the great conversation. Isn’t that just awesome?

Looking forward to an awesome weekend. Let me know you read the blog if you come by!

About Me

Yo I\'m Tim - I love playing games, writing, and giving opinions about games. Bet you probably could have guessed that, eh? I\'m currently studying towards a Game and Simulation Programming degree, hoping to finish by 2012. Its my dream to be in the game industry, doing AI or anything else, really. Meanwhile, I\'ll be here posting about the games I purchase and the games I\'m fortunate enough to be asked to review. If there\'s a game you want to see, drop me a line. Lastly, I’d like to drop a shout to those who\'ve inspired me somewhere along the way: GiantBomb.com, eat-sleep-game.com, cheapassgamer.com. These guys are some of the funniest and most interesting game podcast crews out there and I just want to say thanks for keeping us laughing.
