For those game developers out there who want a voice that can’t be bought, I am opening up KNM for submissions to get your released or pre-released project reviewed by Kennedy New Media. I have been playing and talking about games for over 20 years now, and have a reasonable readership. I have helped companies like Nvidia bring more attention to their games. The submission guideline is simple, but please pay attention so that it goes as smoothly as possible.
Below is a FAQ for submitting your game review. All inquiries can be emailed to tim@kennedynewmedia.com and I will respond as soon as I am able.
Submission FAQ:
Platforms available for game review: PC (Machine Eaters welcome), Xbox 360, Wii, iPhone, PS2. At this time I do not have a PS3 which I hope to remedy sometime in the near future.
Ways to submit game for review: Download code(s) for Xbox Live or iPhone can be emailed to tim@kennedynewmedia.com, or disc can be mailed directly. Please request an address if you need to mail a disc.
What you can expect for your review: 600+ word review going over the visuals, sounds, control, storyline, and gameplay primary categories. I also cover any special innovations in the game or items asked specifically to cover.
Turn-around time for review: 1-2 Weeks; I do have a life outside of this, so don’t expect immediate turnaround. If you’re trying to get reviews prior to launch, be sure to let me know that when you submit your game and I can bump you up. I do like to play through the entire game before writing a review to give a full picture. However, sometimes this is not possible if I am shooting for a quick release date. Since I have significanly more time these days, turnaround times are shorter than they were but I would not expect less than a week unless you express a need to have it back quickly. Essentially, the longer I have the game to play, the more in-depth my review will be.
Follow up: I do like to talk to the developer about certain things, especially if the game is trying something new. Please provide contact information (email at the least) so I can arrange a discussion to add in to my review and give some perspective on some of the aspects of the game. I prefer to talk to the developers themselves, however if PR is all you can give me then so be it.
My question isn’t answered here – who do I contact?: Email me at tim@kennedynewmedia.com and I will be happy to answer your questions.
