Yeah so that’s one of the special things I couldn’t say last week, lol.  Not only am I heading back to school, but my wife and I are expecting our first child. I’m pumped and ready to make games for the little one! By the time they can hold a controller I should be well on my way to making that happen

However, this will put a strain on the finances. Any parent can tell you (and have told me) that the first child is the most expensive since everything big needs to be bought now. We’ll make it happen, but we could certainly use some help….

 Scouring the interwebs, I have had an extremely hard time time finding scholarships. Essentially I have a full-time job, and so does my wife. We can support ourselves without much issue and enjoy a few creature comforts (cable, internet). So since we can afford to eat and support ourselves, the pool of available scholarships dries up almost completely.

The FAFSA is a joke, as it tells me that we should have 1/3 of our entire income to be able to dedicate to school which is absolutely ludicrous. That means more debt through loans. Essentially since I am a responsible adult I get to build up an impressive amount of debt. Yeah THAT makes sense.

My one hope is that I will be able to apply for the Penny Arcade Scholarship next year once I have finished my first year in the Game and Simulation Programming program. I am already finishing up my E.D.E.N design docs and will have an impressive showing at a future GDC or Indy Games Festival. Summaries can be given upon request for those interested in assisting.
